Registered Nurse, Diploma in Bowen Therapy, Level 1 Trainer in TRE
Most of my working life has revolved around the health industry, both in a hospital environment and in complimentary health. My initial training as a nurse was in 1981. Through 22 years of clinical practice (Geelong Hospital) I have developed valuable skills in patient care, wellness, illness, irregularities of the body, and sound observational skills. Modern medicine offers valuable treatment for accident and illness; but it is because of my nursing experience that I became very passionate about the need for safe, effective complimentary therapies to support individuals on a day to day basis. In 1994 I completed a Swedish therapeutic massage course, and there began my interest in body therapies. My journey with Bowen began in 1998 when I observed the benefits of this remarkable therapy for myself. I began training in Bowen therapy in 2000, and completed the Diploma and specialised procedures over the next several years. In 2012 I began to explore another process, Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE). TRE encourages a gentle release of chronic tension, stress or trauma, and helps to regulate the nervous system to a calmer, balanced state. I have gained a deep appreciation for this dynamic therapy, and the benefits it offers. It is a stand-alone process, but can be used in conjunction with Bowen therapy. I have always been inspired to encourage people in their quest for health and wellness; to bring back a sense of ease. Through my long and rewarding journey I have found two therapies that satisfy my need to offer gentle and highly effective support for ongoing wellbeing. Professional qualifications: Registered nurse – 22 years of clinical practice at Geelong Hospital (surgical/medical) Diploma of Bowen therapy; Special procedures 1 & 2 – first trained in July 2000 TRE Level 1 trainer – December 2013
